Crossroads
Crossroads is a voluntary transitional living program for young people who are unable to live at home. Youth live in the Kevin J. Moody Youth Home, a 24-hour supervised group residence. The goal of the program is to help youth prepare for independent and self-sufficient living.
Services offered during the program include shelter, independent living skills training, counseling, case management, employment search, tutoring, health care, and residential assistance.
After graduating from Crossroads, participants have access to a variety of services including advocacy; employment and educational assistance; case management; crisis intervention; rental assistance; and emotional support and guidance. All services are free of charge.
Transitional Living Shelter:
Youth live in the Kevin J. Moody Youth Home, a 24-hour supervised group residence, while receiving case management and life skills training. Transitional living shelter provides a safe, stable, and structured learning environment for the young person. Youth rotate cooking and chore responsibilities.
Day Case Management Services:
Many clients have a temporary alternative place to live, but still want to develop their independent living skills and participate in program activities. Day services are designed to wrap around the scheduling needs and transportation barriers these youth often encounter.
Independent Living Skills:
ILS Group is an interactive learning experience focusing on the skills necessary for youth to live on their own. Topics include: employment, housing, educational goal setting, budgeting, time management, legal issues, health and hygiene, nutrition, community resources, and communication skills.
Pregnant & Parenting Services
Both shelter and Day Case Management services are available for pregnant and parenting teens.
We welcome:
- Pregnant and parenting youth
- Youth aging out of foster care
- Youth in the juvenile justice system
- LGBTQ youth
Uniqueness
- Crossroads operates under the principal that participants must “actively participate in their own rescue.”
- Participants come to Crossroads voluntarily (not by court order).
- Through mandatory community service, participants learn to give back to the community in exchange for the help they are receiving.
Participants in Crossroads also agree to:
- Abstain from alcohol or other drugs and submit to unannounced, random drug testing
- Pose no physical threat to themselves or others
- Be motivated to work towards independent living and self-sufficiency
