Child Welfare Services

Adoption

Child & Family's adoption program links children who need a home with families wanting to adopt. The goal of the adoption program is to locate families who can make a "lifetime" commitment to a child and provide a secure and nurturing environment where the child can progress mentally, physically, and socially. The program locates families through recruitment, telephone inquiries, and community outreach. Children and their adoptive families are provided with needed assistance and support through pre and post adoption services. (read more about our adoption services)

Post Adoption Support Services (PASS)

The goal of PASS is to provide supportive services to adoptive families of special needs children in the tri county area. (read more about PASS)

Foster Care

Foster care is a service to children who are removed from family care due to abuse or neglect charges. The goal of foster care is to provide permanency for these minors, who are infants to 18 years of age. Permanency can be reunification with family or adoption - if parental rights are terminated. Additionally, movement to independent living, if old enough, is an option for the teens in our Foster Care. Foster Home Licensing staff recruit, train and license families to provide foster family care. In additional they provide support, annual evaluations and incident investigations. Supervised Independent Living Services (SILS)

The SILS program works with youth who are aging out of foster care with the goal of helping them become economically independent, self-sufficient, and productive members of the community. The SILS housing coordinator works individually with each youth to locate affordable housing and develop an independent living plan. The coordinator provides weekly visits to the youth's home to monitor progress and provide support. (read more about SILS)
